In 2012 and 2013, the research unit received financial support from Frank Stronach, chairman at the time of the Stronach Medical Group, and used to be referred to as the Stronach research unit. As part of cooperative research projects between Austria, China and the USA, scientific projects are conducted on high-tech acupuncture methods, for example laser acupuncture. The scientific research makes a significant contribution to the recognition of evidence-based complementary laser medicine. A focused expansion of the high-tech intercontinental acupuncture network initiated by the team is also being pursued.
